John Stamford joins ETA as the VP of Engineering

With increased interest in ETA’s technologies, we are pleased to confirm that we have made a key recruitment to underpin the scaling of our engineering capacity.

John Stamford joined ETA Green Power in December 2024 as the VP of Engineering to scale and lead our technology development and engineering delivery.

John’s career traces the evolution of electric vehicle technology from its nascent stages in the early 1990s to the present day. With a background in electronics and engine development, he transitioned to electric vehicle technology before it gained widespread recognition. His experience, reputation and personal success spans various organisations, from early electric bus projects to high-performance Formula One powertrains and leading engineering roles at Jaguar Land Rover, Chief of Engineering, Next Generation Powertrains, Dyson, Head of EV Powertrain Project, and Mercedes High Performance Powertrains, Chief Engineer, Energy Recovery Systems, and part of their team winning four consecutive F1 Championships, 2014-2017.

A consistent theme throughout John’s work is the critical role of battery and electric drive system technology in electric vehicle advancement. He emphasises the ongoing need for improvements in total system performance and integration. John’s expertise highlights the importance of system integration, component optimisation, and the continuous pursuit of efficiency in the electric vehicle sector. He has been at the forefront of pushing the boundaries of what electric vehicles can achieve.
